Lunch Box Wisdom 27 Apr 2018...
"I cannot brain today. I has the dumb."
Have you ever had one of those days where
everything seems to be running in slow motion, backwards, in the wrong
color? I have... several actually.
Once I went to turn a corner in my Jeep,
went to wave a friend, and ran over one of the daily special signs. So hopped
out to stand it back up and my Jeep kept going. I jumped back in my jeep
and slammed on the breaks. Relieved, I looked out to see the person I was
waving at laughing historically. I grinned embarrassed and head on to
work.
My day went on pretty much that same from
there. I was late to work, forgot both my security badge and my laptop at
home. So I had to head back home to get them, making me even more late for work.
At lunch I realized I had forgotten my lunch too. Wow, could it get any
better. Yes is could, my stomach growled so loud in the afternoon meeting
that everyone started to giggle. I tried to shrink into my chair,
and explained how I had missed lunch.
It was not until I was back at my desk
that I started to see the good in my chaos day. My friend from the
morning sent me a message saying that my sleepy driving skills had given her
the best laugh all week and she thanked me. I had to smile and think, I
guess that was the best thing that could have happened in that situation.
Some laughs and no crash. Plus one of the folks from the meeting brought
me some cookies. She said she had missed lunch once last week and they should
hit the spot. They sure did, they were some of the best homemade
chocolate chip cookies ever.
So moral of the story… every bad day
can become a great day. It’s all in how you look at it. Plus, you never know
who you might be impacting with you unwitting entertainment value :-)
